Indian Fry Bread

How to make Indian Fry Bread

Ingredients:

1 cup flour

½ tsp salt

½ tsp sugar

2 tsp oil

Warm water (1/2 cup approximately)

Instructions

In a bowl, mix the flour, salt and sugar.

Add the oil and mix until crumbly. Gradually add lukewarm water until you get a smooth, non-sticky dough.

Form a ball, cover with a tea towel and leave to rest for 30 minutes.

Divide the dough into several pieces (about 15).

Take each ball and spread it thinly into a disc 10 cm in diameter on a lightly oiled surface, place as you go on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.

When the oil is hot enough, gently place the dough and using a frying spatula apply light pressure while turning the dough on itself in the oil. The bread will start to puff up after a few seconds.

Turn over and cook for a few more seconds (do not allow color to set). Drain the bread and place on a plate covered with paper towel or Sopalin.

Continue with the rest of the dough.

Serve immediately.

Enjoy !
