Ingredients

1 cup fresh strawberries, diced

1/2 cup white sugar

1 to 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (to taste)

1 cup pure pineapple juice

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Strawberries

Place the diced strawberries in a bowl, sprinkle with sugar, and mash gently until they release their natural juices.

Step 2: Combine Ingredients

Transfer the mashed strawberries and their juices to a medium saucepan.

Stir in the lemon juice and pineapple juice until fully combined.

Step 3: Cook the Sauce

Set the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking or burning.

Step 4: Finish and Serve

Simmer until the sauce thickens and the flavors have melded together.

Serve warm over cakes or brownies, or chill in the refrigerator and spoon over ice cream for a bright, refreshing topping.
