How to make Quick Maple Bars
Ingredients
16 ounce tube of Buttermilk Style Biscuits
3 cups Vegetable Oil, for frying
Glaze:
¾ cup light brown sugar, packed
5 tbsp butter, salted
4 tbsp milk
1 ½ tbsp light corn syrup
1 tbsp Maple Extract
1 ¾ cup Confectioners Sugar
Instructions
Add the brown sugar, butter, and the milk to a 2 quart saucepan over medium high heat, whisking continuously
When the sugar is dissolved, whisk in the corn syrup and the maple extract
Remove from the heat
Pour this melted sugar mixture over the Confectioners Sugar and whisk until the sugar is completely incorporated
In a large skillet, add the 3 cups of oil and heat over medium high heat
Heat the oil to 340* to 350*
While the oil is heating, carefully open the tube of biscuit dough
Remove the dough and separate each.
Carefully flatten each biscuit dough
When the oil is heated carefully place two of the flattened biscuits into the heated oil
Fry the dough for 1 ½ to 2 minutes per side, until light golden brown
Drain on a paper towel and allow to cool completely
Stir the glaze to be sure it is not hardening on the top
Then pour glaze over each of the fried donut bars.
Allow the glaze to begin to harden before serving.
